Can You Grow Chanterelle Mushrooms At Home?
It depends !
It is not possible to grow Chanterelles in containers because Chanterelles require host tree nearby. Indeed, Chanterelles are mycorrhizal species: these mushrooms therefore need to associate with the roots of trees, through the mycelium!
However, it is possible to reproduce the growth conditions of the Chanterelle by introducing culture material (mycelium, Chanterelle spore, Chanterelle spawn, etc.) in areas favorable to Chanterelles. The principle will be the same as the cultivation of truffles.

Chanterelle Growing Conditions
If you have understood the previous part, then you understand that the cultivation of Chanterelles is not possible. On the other hand, we can actually try to inoculate the roots of several host trees in order to find Chanterelles there in the coming years.
But how to grow Chanterelles? What should you do?
- Select an appropriate area: acid pH, the right Chanterelle substrate (abundant litter, drained soil), suitable host trees (oak, beech, spruce, fir…)
- Select pore portions on mature, healthy Chanterelles.
- Introduce fragments of carpophores at the level of the roots at a depth ranging from 10 to 15 cm.
- The very hypothetical harvest will generally take place several years after the above process. And this remains very random as there is variability in obtaining a perennial Chanterelle place.
Where Can You Find Chanterelle Spores Or Spawn?
As we have seen, the ideal is therefore not to use Chanterelle spores, but rather to opt for pieces of mature and healthy Chanterelle caps!
So, if you are tempted to buy Chanterelle mycelium, know that you will not be successful!
