Can You Grow Porcini Mushrooms At Home?
It depends !
It is not possible to grow Porcini mushrooms in containers and in general if there is no host tree nearby. Indeed, Porcini are mycorrhizal species: these mushrooms therefore need to associate with the roots of trees, through the mycelium, to grow!
However, it is possible to reproduce the growth conditions of the Porcini by introducing culture material (mycelium, Porcini spore, Porcini spawn, etc.) in areas favorable to the cultivation of the Porcini mushroom. The principle will be the same as the cultivation of truffles.

Porcini Growing Conditions
If you have understood the previous part correctly, then you will have understood that the cultivation of Porcini is not possible. On the other hand, we can actually try to inoculate the roots of several host trees in order to find porcini mushrooms there in the coming years.
But how to grow porcini mushrooms? What is the correct method?
- Select an appropriate area: acid pH, the right porcini substrate (abundant litter, drained soil), suitable host trees (oak, beech, etc.)
- Select pore portions on mature, healthy porcini mushrooms.
- Introduce fragments of carpophores at the level of the roots at a depth ranging from 10 to 15 cm.
- The very hypothetical harvest will generally take place several years after the above process. And this remains very random as there is variability in obtaining a perennial porcini place.
Where Can You Find Porcini Spores Or Spawn?
As we have seen, the ideal is therefore not to use Porcini spores, but rather to opt for pieces of mature and healthy Porcini caps!
