Pre-clean Your Bolete In The Forest!

When you pick a bolete, it is logically on the ground. The ground is made of earth and other elements such as conifer needle litter or leaves. These elements are very messy and will complicate your job by getting mixed up in your basket! It is for this reason that you must clean your boletes as much as possible on site before putting them in your basket!

Grab the base of the stem without carrying needles or leaves in your picking! Don’t pick your Bolete mushrooms like pigs!

When you pick your bolete, remember to cut the base of the stem and peel the dirtiest areas, once the bolete has been picked. This will remove 50% of the dirt in seconds. You can also brush them if you have one mushroom knife with a brush.

Finish Cleaning Your Bolete At Home!

If you followed our previous advice, you should already have fresh boletes already well cleaned! Now comes the time to refine your cleaning! Here are the steps to properly clean your boletes at home. These tips apply to all boletes.

  1. Brush your bolete. The top of the hat, then the stem.

  3. Identify and remove the wormy parts from the healthy parts. To do this, take a good look at the holes in the bolete as well as the slightly oxidized areas.   4. Cut your bolete into strips, lengthwise for a final visual check!
