Honey Fungus, Edible?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The question is not settled! Some call it toxic or dangerous, others say it is edible. But how is that possible?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This uncertainty about its edibility comes from the different feedback from those who have tried it: some appreciated it when others had gastrointestinal problems after its consumption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, for the reason just mentioned, you can’t really say it is edible. And as a precaution, we recommend that you do not consume it, because it is difficult to know how your body will react to its consumption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Honey Mushroom Lookalikes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Honey fungus is often confused with other Armillaria. We can, for example, mention the Armillaria cepistipes, the Armillaria ostoyae or the Armillaria gallica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As for beginners, it is quite common for them to confuse the honey fungus with Pholiota or Hypholoma. In particular, the Shaggy Pholiota (Pholiota squarrosa) whose ring is not white and the stem is not streaked above it, or the Sheathed Woodtuft (Kuehneromyces mutabilis), whose cap is smooth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, as usual, be wary of what you pick; confusion is never far away! Indeed, do not take any risk with poisonous mushrooms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
